ATLANTA (AP) - Mayor Kasim Reed and business leaders departed for China on a 9-day trade mission to encourage foreign investment for metropolitan Atlanta-area businesses.
Reed and a delegation of economic development officials left on Friday. They are scheduled to visit five cities that include Shanghai, Nanjing, Hangzhou, Guangzhou and Shenzhen.
More than 20 businesses will be represented on the trip, joining officials from Invest Atlanta and the Metro Atlanta Chamber of Commerce on Reed's first trade mission to China.
China represents Georgia's second-largest export market. In 2010, Georgia exported $2.4 billion in goods to China, which is a 35.2% increase from 2009.
